Stella and I are going to make an interactive art piece. We are unsure of the name and many of the details, but here is the basic premise: it will be a sphere, roughly 18″ in diameter. The outer skin will be a semi-translucent latex. There will be a touch sensitive layer slightly below the skin, and net of LEDs buried under the skin as well. Inside the orb will be a solenoid hooked up to a hammer of sorts. When the orb is touched, it will glow brighter and brighter, and then solenoid will trigger the hammer, simulating a kicking action from inside. The drawing below is a cross-sectional diagram, foregoing details related to physical construction of the sphere itself.
